Jetmetric Launches Network Security Assessment Tools Web Portal
We had a little debate over whether or not it was cool to send you today's SMA, because it's not technically a pure security advisory: it's maybe closer to a bald sales pitch. That said, we're just too excited about a new company that we're spinning off, and think that it has some great security assessment tools that you'll find useful — so, the sales guys won, but only because the tech guys like to share their new toys — and because we're giving away 30-day trial subscriptions.

Redspin is thrilled to invite you to be the first to visit our network security assessment tools web portal, Jetmetric.com
"Jetmetric was born from the realization that once-a-year security audits don't always catch network security problems before they can do some serious damage," said John Abraham, Redspin's President & CEO. "We want to put the same tools that auditors use straight into the hands of the IT professionals who most need them."

The security assessment tools on the website will be constantly updated to reflect current network threats and problems. The starting lineup available now includes:
Because 40% of firewalls are improperly configured, this will give you a graphical view of exactly what your firewall looks like. Let us draw you a picture.
It compares what you think your Active Directory Group Policies are doing to actual practice.
Your very own little automated hacker-in-a-box. It lets you know if your website is vulnerable to SQL injection attacks.
The site is set up as a Software-as-a-Service portal, and will be offered on a subscription basis. This way, whenever customers make changes to their firewall configuration,Group Policy settings or website, they can instantly make sure they haven't compromised their security.
"We thought about selling our tools one at a time, but we wanted to offer a complete solution. We also didn't want to make our customers keep having to upgrade, or buy new tools when they were released. With a subscription, the latest and greatest will always be at their fingertips."
Jetmetric was spun-off from Redspin, Inc., a security audit firm with experience at hundreds of financial institutions, casinos, and other businesses who have a serious stake in making sure that their networks are secure. "When you combine that with our team of righteous computer geeks," said Abraham, "I think you've found the perfect place to help keep your systems safe.
