Key Findings

Awareness and investment have grown, preparedness pays off, but execution still lags.

CMMC Research Report_1

Awareness and investment are up, but execution remains the biggest hurdle. Nearly 37% of responders haven’t scheduled a Level 2 assessment.

Readiness work leads to real results. OSCs that started with strong NIST 800-171 and DFARS foundations and mock assessments were 4x more likely to pass their assessment on the first try.

CMMC “enforcement” is already happening organically. 47% of those surveyed have received flow-down requests from primes requiring certification or scheduled assessments.

This year’s research makes one thing unmistakably clear: the DIB understands the stakes, has invested heavily, but is still struggling to move from readiness to real, validated compliance. With Phase 1 in effect and primes already flowing down requirements, the time to act is now.

This report gives contractors insight into where their peers are succeeding, where they’re falling behind, and what practices truly move the needle.
